steady progress

my sideways garter stitch scarf is progressing nicely. I hope to post some photos later. But as I work on this, I found other patterns for this type of scarf and have been inspired for ideas of different color schemes. Looks like I'll be buying more yarn once I finish this one. :)

a touch of color

for my first project, I'm working on a sideways garter stitch scarf using some black yarn left over from a crocheted afghan that I made. It started to get a little boring so I bought some purple to brighten it up. Sorry I don't have a pictures yet. My digital camera died. But the purple does looking nice with the black.

newbie gives it a try...

I've always wanted to know how to knit. I tried in high school and was quickly frustrated. And the couple of times since then weren't much of a sucess either. But this Christmas, I was given a crochet book and made a couple of hats which made 2006 the year for me to try knitting once again.

KnittingHelp.com to the rescue. I learned an easy way to cast on and discovered continental style knitting. Once I found some nice bamboo needles, I made a few nondescript 'swatches' to practice some stitches.:

I'm going to a craft gathering tomorrow (just a few crafty ladies). A friend is trying to encourage me to try this... but I haven't even made a hat or a scarf yet so I dunno. *shrug* we'll see.
